Carroll, Kimberly A.
Dr. Kimberly Carroll is a research fellow of the Cardiovascular Division at the Center for Interdisciplinary Cardiovascular Sciences at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2021. As an undergraduate, she worked at Versatope Therapeutics, investigating the immunogenicity of bacteria-derived outer membrane vesicles.
Kimberly went on to earn her Ph.D. in Immunology from Tufts University in 2026, where her research examined the role of immune cells in early-life organ development. Her translational work identified mechanisms regulating the formation of intestinal immunity in fetal humans and mice, offering insight into the processes that support mammalian health from the earliest stages of life. During her doctoral training, she was awarded a prestigious F31 fellowship from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health.
Kimberly joined CICS in June 2026 and is currently a member of Elena Aikawa’s research group, where she studies the role of immune cells in calcific aortic valve disease.
